Philosophical, psychological, psychophysical issues. History of trends in AI and current state. Case studies from problem solving, expert systems, robotics, natural language understanding, computer vision, neural nets, and learning. LISP, C++, and possibly MATLAB programming. Laboratory exercises involve state-of-the-art hardware and software systems. This course is prerequisite for advanced AI courses.
Prerequisites: MTH 150 and CSC 172. (Spring; cross-listed as BCS 232.)
