I am trying to have college games played at our baseball facilities but the outfield fence is only 355ft in distance. I am trying to find out how much fence height equals field distance. (5 ft of fence height equals ? ft of field distance) * 6 months ago Additional Details This is done everyday by ballparks all over the place. Their has to be a formula to determine this. How else would they be able to mark the distance on outfield fences with varying heights? This is based on a straight line to the fence with a higher elevation. 6 months ago Best Answer [by 'efqy'] - Chosen by Voters [seems to be only 1 voter, maybe we can create a new answer and all vote for it --- heh heh --CB.] If the ball comes down at a 45 degree angle (as it will for maximum distance hits), then approximately an extra 5 ft of distance. If the hit is flatter than 45 degrees, then it corresponds to a bigger distance than 5ft. * 6 months ago 100% 1 Vote
