Matching MR images of the brain

In this example, we used two MR images of the brain of the same patient.

A slice of one of the 3D MRI image of the brain (at eyes level) and all the crest lines extracted on this image (right side view).

In this case, 80 lines are matched (with more than 4 extremal points) among the 620 lines in each image, leading to a total of 350 matched extremal points.

Registered crest lines. Left: top view; middle: side view and closeup to show the quality of frame matches. Most of the matched crest lines are on the surface of the brain, except a few lines on the facial bones.
