Huge selection of fasteners, pipe fittings, springs, O-rings;
taps and drills in sizes the big box stores don't carry.
Southtown Plaza, Jefferson Rd, Henrietta.
Tools from China (mostly). Lots of them. Cheap.
Quality varies from pretty good to crap. Caveat emptor.
If it fails, throw it out and get a better brand (at 3 times the price).
It's probably made in China too.
They have tools here you can't find at any other local
retail outlet, including some metalworking machinery.
They have replacement electric motors from fractional to a
couple horsepower. Small gasoline engines.
I once got a 110 lb. anvil here (made in Russia).
And a 2-stage vacuum pump.
Worth browsing through, even planning a visit.
Radio Shack. OUT OF BUSINESS -- BANKRUPT
Marketplace Mall and Jefferson Road Henrietta Plaza locations.
Some wire, lots of audio and video connectors;
low to mid-grade electrical tools;
a limited selection of discrete components

and you need them now, it's the place; a small selection of
perf board; some arduino and other project kits,
700 South Goodman.
A bit like the original Radio Shack. Privately run. The owners
sometimes like to chat. Quite a bit of wire; video surveillance
equipment; a very miscellaneous assortment of components,
some quite old, some unusual, some surplus, worth a look
before you go online.

A 20 minute drive, but a rather well stocked hobby shop.
RC aircraft and other vehicles along with associated motors and servos;
model rockets, trains;
support materials, including a selection of rather high-tech
and unusual materials for building RC airplanes (small Al and
brass stock, ultra-thin plywood, carbon fiber rods,
small-guage metal tubing); stained glass supplies.
Buffalo Rd. South end of Mt Read Blvd.
The place to go for aluminum and steel stock. They'll sell
you practically any amount. You'll often find RIT engineering
students there getting materials for their projects.
Klein Steel Direct (Rochester Steel Outlet).
Moved to 105 McLaughlin Rd ? (1029 Lyell Ave.)
Surplus outlet for Klein Steel. Mostly hot-rolled steel stock, plus
small assortment of aluminum, and stainless cutoffs.
Surplus is by the pound, $20 minimum, drops from about $1/lb
for small amounts to less than half that if you want hundreds of lbs.
Also a selection of prime stock (20-foot lengths).
You might get a better price than SMC if they have what you want.
(This was also the place that I once found surplus 1-1/4 titanium
bar stock for $2.00/lb, though that's never been repeated).
2856 West Henrietta Rd.
Screws, nuts and bolts of all kinds. In quantity.
If they don't have it in stock, they can get it in a couple of days.
Full packages only, but often at a fraction of hardware store price.
For small hardware, this is usually 50-100.
If you need 20 or more of an item, this is the place to get it.
100 Aviation Ave (off Paul Rd.), Gates, 426-1690.
Mainly a commercial supplier, but they have some solid plastics in stock,
including larger stuff. Give them a call before you order something big
from McMaster-Carr. A bit out-of-the-way, and you need to go around to
the back door of the warehouse to pick up materials.
